On Saturday 9th May, we have the Harewood Open Hillclimb and on Sunday there is the British Hillclimb Championship at Harewood with club member Henry Moorhouse competing in his Westfield. Spectator tickets can be bought online in advance for £13.
On Sunday 10th May, the club are hosting the Yorkshire Dales classic car and motorcycle trial, starting and finishing at Pateley Bridge showground. This attracts nationwide competitors. Its a spectacular event with a wide variety of cars competing and my favourite to watch are the vintage motorcycles with passengers in sidecars climbing up marked sections in hills in the countryside. There are too many competitors from the club to name and hoards of volunteers marshalling the sections. A big thank you from the committee to everyone who has given up their time to assist.
Saturday and Sunday is the 1st round of the Citycar Cup at Snetterton and John Sykes is competing in the Toyota Aygo.
Further afield, on Sunday 10th May, there is the Lincoln Green stage rally at Fulbeck Airfield. Competing from the club are Garry Carver and Ann Dixon in the Mitsubishi Colt; Kyle Wilson and John Pinder in the Fiesta R2; Dave Ellis and Jamie Wilson in the BMW Mini.
Further north competing in the EACC Kames Spring junior stage rally run at the Kames Motorsport Complex in East Ayrshire we have McKenzie Snowden and Robert Fagg competing in the VW Up.
Dont forget on Wednesday 13th May we are having a car meet at the New Inn, Eccup from 7.30pm. They serve food til 8pm, reservations can be made online. So whether you’re a member or a follower do come along and bring your pride and joy or your daily run around and say hello!
