WHATS ON.

What a clubnight we had on Wednesday. The Motorist at Sherburn in Elmet had Ilkley And District Motor Club and York Motor Club promoting grass roots motor sports with an autotest display which also allowed passengers. It was a fantastic affair with so many of you out there spreading the word that there is plenty of local affordable motorsport out there. I believe that there were over 80 passenger rides and my poor arms from a lack of power steering are still aching! Thank you to Ray Jude for organising ; Adrian Woolford and Les McGuffog for staffing the course and Sarah Clegg, Andrew Johnson and Roger Burkill for ensuring everyone had RS clubcards and were signed on as they loaded the passengers into the cars. Im not thanking the drivers as just from their smiles the free practice session was worth its weight in gold!

So many other club members supported the event and those not part of the display encouraged potential new members to take part or attend an event and I do hope that I can say hello to some new faces soon!

Looking towards the sunny weekend.

On Saturday 12th July 2025, David Sowman and John Rawling are in the MGB;  Kevin and Judith Goodings are in the MGB Roadster as part of the  Lancashire Auto Clubs Coast to Coast touring assembly. Starting from the Midland Hotel in Morecambe and finishing in Sandsend, Whitby.

Also on Saturday the Nicky Grist stages are being held  near Builth Wells in Powys. Competing from the club are David Dobson and Steve Pugh in the Opel Manta.

Also on Saturday, Dumferline Car Club are hosting the Mach 1 Junior Stages at Machrihanish Airbase, near Campbelltown. Competing from the club are Mckenzie Snowden and Jonathan Turnbull in the Skoda Citygo. Mckenzie is a young star of the future and is driving well again this season, good luck.

On Saturday evening the Barcud Rally is being held in Ceredigion. Competing from the club are Steve King and Simin Bentley in the BMW 318 ti compact.

On Sunday 13th July Les McGoffog and his Austin Healey; Andy Harrison and his Austin Allegro are at  the Great British Motor Museum at Gaydon as part of the Abingdon Works cars display as part of the BMC/Leyland day. This should be a fabulous event as the 2025 edition of BMC & Leyland Show is a particularly notable one, as it will mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the British Motor Corporation Competitions Department at Abingdon on Thames.

Also on Sunday, Bath MC are holding their Aquae Sulis Tour, joining them from the club are Ron and Kathleen Beecroft in their Mercedes SL400AMG. They will be touring South Wiltshire and Salisbury Plain.

So it’s a super weekend ahead. Dont forget on Wednesday it is a club night autotest at Dransfields, Ilkley a big grassy venue so get your entries in or register to marshal on Motorclub Manager.
