Did you know the course closing car for this year’s Jubilee Rally was carrying the clubs newly acquired defibrillator? On a recent club night car trial, trainee nurse Georgia Potter, noticed the majority of the people in the field were in the potential defibrillator use zone!
This conversation continued with club member Chas Stansfield whose daughter, Fran Young, mentioned her practice had a spare one which Ilkley were welcome to!
This extremely generous donation could quite literally be a lifesaver and will be at future Ilkley club events.
This defibrillator awareness evening is being held for all to attend.
Thank you again to Fran for this brilliant piece of kit and as Guy Martin says, ‘It’s better to be looking at it than for it!’
A defibrillator is a medical device that delivers an electric shock to the heart to restore a normal rhythm during a cardiac arrest. These devices, often called AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators), are designed to be easy to use and provide step-by-step voice or visual instructions, making them accessible to the public in emergencies. Using a defibrillator in conjunction with CPR significantly increases a person's chances of survival from sudden cardiac arrest.
